Junior Grade Cricket

Kensington has two Under 14 teams and two Under 16 teams competing in the SACA Powerade Junior Grade Cricket Competition. These teams play on Saturday afternoons.

As well as these teams the club has a team in the Ray Sutton Shield competition which is for primary school-aged cricketers. This team plays on Sunday afternoons.

The club will also field teams in the Under 12, Under 14 and Under 17 Statewide Cups, held during December and January. The Statewide Cups are talent identification carnivals, designed to help pick the State Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 squads for the following season.

In 2012-13 the club introduced the "Kensington Academy" - a program designed to develop the most talented 9-12 year old cricketers in our zone. This program replaced Kensington's Under 13 teams which historically competed in the North Eastern Junior Cricket Association and also the Under 11 Development Squad, which had been running for three seasons.

The club's involvement in NEJCA was very successful. We entered two teams each season with premierships in 2001/02, 2002/03, 2003/04, 2004/05, 2006/07, 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2010/11. We also were runners up in 2001/02, 2005/06, 2009/10 and 2010/11. In our final season in 2011/12 both our teams won premierships and we also won the NEJCA T20 competition. The rationale for the switch to the Kensington Academy can be read here.
